Saints (Boxers & Saints, 2)

Boxers & Saints is a groundbreaking graphic novel in two volumes that tells the story of young people caught up on opposite sides of a violent rift during China's Boxer Rebellion.

The companion volume, Saints, follows a lonely girl from a neighboring village who unwanted by her family and finds fulfillment in service to the Church, while the other volume, Boxers, tells the story of Little Bao, a young man who joins the Boxer Rebellion.

This innovative format presents two parallel tales about young people caught up on opposite sides of a violent rift.

The graphic novel has been adapted into an original series on Disney+ and won the LA Times Book Prize and was a National Book Award Finalist.

Gene Luen Yang, the author, is a MacArthur Foundation Fellow and has written other comics works including Secret Coders (with Mike Holmes), The Shadow Hero (with Sonny Liew), and Superman Smashes the Klan and the Avatar: The Last Airbender series (both with Gurihiru).
