The Jewel Thief is a psychological crime thriller that follows the story of Deborah Dainton, a quiet and shy woman who takes refuge in her work as a trusted employee of a posh London auction house.

Despite claustrophobia from her time in an iron lung, Deborah hides in a closet so that she can slip out after the auction house's closing to let her lover enter and steal a fortune in gems.

The film features a magnetic performance by David Hemmings (Blow-Up) as Leigh, and Samantha Eggar's (The Collector) "beautifully restrained and evocative performance" as Deborah.
