Ben Stiller delivers a powerful performance as Jerry Stahl, a former TV writer who found success in the 1980s but was unable to escape the grasp of his addiction.

The film takes viewers on a harrowing journey through Stahl's struggles with heroin, from the high-rise hotel rooms where he and his friends would smoke and leap into windows, to the arranged marriage that benefited him enormously, to the moment when he was busted alone with his infant child.

Through it all, Stiller's performance is raw and unflinching, capturing the desperation and despair of a man trapped in his own addiction.

Despite its bleak subject matter, Permanent Midnight is a visceral and compelling watch, one that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats until the very end.
