The rainbow coloration makes it easy to see at a glance a general idea of the temp, but the needle is easy to read also for a more exact reading. I will probably buy another for her bedroom window! I ordered this as a replacement for a relative that is older and has a hard time seeing. They had one that was off by 12* and needed a new one. The large numbers as well as the colorscale makes it extremely easy for her to read the temperature!
