I bought this brush for myself. It works well but it is not the strongest brush for coarse hair. I tried it on my son's somewhat thick, wavy hair and it is perfect. It's soft, but strong enough to style his hair well.

I have a senior cat who is mostly pelt and bones and pet brushes are too severe. This brush is quite soft so it glides over her protruding bones but still picks up hair. She purrs robustly while being brushed--which warms my heart. I love that the brush is made of wood and boar's hair (no plastic!).

Seems like a legitimate boar bristle brush despite the price. Definitely textures your hair a little bit differently than a comb would.
