It seems to work. I am using it for water and my dog is not belching or vomiting the water at all. Obviously slowing her down. Seems pretty sturdy too.

My dog is a special case, he eats like he will die if not. He still eating fast because the food is separated but it not move around the plate. He just go each space and eats fast.
