I bought this item and it worked for one day and it cracked. I thought that it was me who somehow broke it so I went and bought a second one and the same thing happened!

I have a 55 gallon tank. This heater was the only heater in the aquarium. It did not turn off when it reached temperature and killed my fish. I put the heater in a smaller container under water to see if it would ever kick off. The water started boiling around it and it still didn't kick off.
