Dell needs to do a better job of ensuring that this product is really compatible with the Inspiron 600M notebook. Failure to do this must have already caused a lot of returns.

I would not recommend using the special hard drive installation software available on the Western Digital website. It worked much better when I just installed the operating system directly.

I used a data transfer kit to load the new drive. This worked great and when finished I can use the old drive in the enclosure as a USB back up drive. No pin adapter required.
