It says right in the information that it does not need a battery, but the only way to power it is with a battery. There is no cord. The alarm is not very loud and doesn't get any louder. It actually shuts off after one minute. I'm sending it back.

The numbers are smaller than I would like but I got it for the alarm and that works just fine and serves the purpose for me.
