Wasn't sure if it was new because it was priced same as refurb. It actually is new. We are using it without the sprint connection because I don't have a plan for it. Works great. Just turn off the cell. Great deal.

not sure if this is an Apple issue or Walmart.com issue but there were no instructions included. I can not tell if the SIM needed for cellular communications is even in the box. Could certainly use some instructions. I'll have to wait for one of my kids to come by & show me.
