I received a Scotty rod holder as a gift, but I thought the mount it came with was too big. I ordered this mount to use instead. I like the fact that it is flush with the inside of my kayak and has a rubber plug. Now, if I'm just paddling instead of fishing, I don't have a large mount sticking up...

I mounted 2 of these along each gunwale of my boat. They are out of the way when not in use, and I can set up rod holders or a Scotty downrigger as needed. Great product at the right price.
