It's Legos, they are great. Bought one for the 7 year old for a birthday, and had to buy another for his 5 year old brother. The only drawback is the box is cardboard.

This set has less number of pieces but believe me you can make a bunch of things. I have made houses, boat, airplane, truck, castle etc. It is a good beginner set before you buy a big one.
