this book is about a cunning spider and a not so bright fly. The illustrations are very dark which makes the whole story idealistic for what is going on. Reading this to children is a nice intro to science. It also gives them wise words that not everything is ever as good as someone tells you.

This was the first "non happily ever after" book I read my 2 year old nephew. I was a bit scared it would upset him, but he loves it! We read it every night and he doesn't mind that the fly gets eaten. He loves the cadence of the poetry and the beautiful drawings. I highly recommend this.
