This will probably be the only book I ever put on the crime novel shelf as I fear most of them are too brutal for my taste but I liked this one - great characters, dialogue and a page-turning plot.

I do not know if the book was better than Spike Lee's adaptation of it (it is of course hard not to see Norton and Hoffman as you are reading), but Benioff is a fantastic writer and both are a do not miss.

3.5 stars. Great writing, funny and heartbreaking. I feel for Monty, but not too much, which is what keeps this from being a four-star review. Definitely worth reading.
