I didn't buy these for the grill. Rather I purchased these tongs as a fireplace tool so I can reposition and turn the wood so it burns more effectively. They are certainly up to the task. We are burning mesquite, which is a heavy, dense wood. No problem though. These tongs can handle it.

I love the length of these tongs. Working over a very large grill, they give good reach without roasting your hands. The locking mechanism is sticky and tends to lock on it's own without any input from me.
