There is now a notch on each side which keeps the trash bag from getting stuck in the lid opening mechanism. Super easy to use now. The new one (purchased in 2023) is on the right in the photo. I did like the old darker gray color better. But the new one works wonderfully!

Perfect step on trash can. Great price and 13 gallon trash bags fit perfectly. The grey color looks great.

This area HERE for writing reviews is a tad confusing: it's like there are 2 different areas to write a review. OK, Corporate, fix the confusion! Second, love the new foot-operated garbage can: people in my house always left the old swing-door can open! So you could say this new one is a peace...

Excellent. It is good that it has a lid that lifts manually (and stays open) and a step pedal that doesn't. I used 30 gallon Hefty bags. I think they work better with this kitchen trash can than the 13 gallon bags would. Hard to think of how it could have been designed better.
