This works pretty well. Not quite the same as having the carpet cleaners though.I use the sturdy scrub brush to work it into the carpet and then let it dry and vacuum. Works well on rugs that cant be shampooed. I use it on my jute rug regularly. It is damp when it goes on and absorbs dirt/dust as it dries, then you vacuum it up. Generally I prefer shampooing, but when you cant this is a decent alternative.
