These headphones do NOT cancel noise. Not even a little bit. There is NO difference between the off and on positions (and, yes, I used a fresh battery). I tried these on an aircraft, plugged into my iPad. Even with the volume turned up all the way, I could not hear the movie. DO NOT BUY THESE

Absolutely Not Noise Canceling. Not even a little bit. I brought these headphones because they are featured as "Noise Canceling". I am very disappointed in SONY, featuring them Noise Canceling. Way to lose reliability and customers.

The sound quality is good, but these are NOT noise cancelling at all. I used them on the bus and ferry and could still hear conversations going on around me when the power was turned on. They are also extremely uncomfortable when worn for very long.
