My own mother was in poor health when I read this, so it was even more meaningful to read this book. I cried in parts and laughed in others. This will be a memorable book for me.

I liked it better than Sullivan's Island because I felt the story progressed a bit better. I am finding an unlikely amount of love interests in her stories. This was a good book, but not as good as the sequel, Lowcountry Summer. It went on too long, and some of the emotion was over the top. Plus, I wonder what happened to Doctor Jack.
