The Kurt Austin stories just don't hold my interest the way that the Dirk Pitt stories do. Fire Ice was okay, but it was too predictable. Austen's "special assignments team" has virtually nothing to do (especially Gamay Trout...why was she even in this book?).

Another one that fits right into the formula for the Cussler stable. I still like Paul K as one of the best writers in the stable - good job.

The four stars is VERY GENEROUS. The story was semi-complex, with lots of characters/scenes that had to be kept in mind as each event took place. The ending was crap. Oh well, it is Christmas time so will give it four instead of three stars. 3.51 that rounds to 4
