Seems to be very fine. Solid built not thin plastic. Lid is hinged in a way that prevents it from flipping all the way back flat and breaking hinges.

I love these toolboxes! They are so sturdy, and well-made. I really couldn't believe the price that I got it for. It wasn't even on sale, and I thought it was such a good deal for such a sturdy item. I would buy lots of these to store things in my garage or utility closet.
