Plop the baby barn owl was afraid of the dark. He sets out to learn all about the dark and meets other characters who each tell him a story about why dark isn't frightening. By the end of the book Plop likes the dark.

Jill Tomlinson (British author) created a sweet novel about a young barn owl who is afraid of the dark. This is a beginning reader novel entwined with rich vocabulary to help boost deep thinking. This makes a great read a loud for first and second graders and can be used with a side study on owls...

    my first proper book :)

I like the concept of teaching children all sorts of ways to appreciate the dark, but the idea of a baby owl being afraid of the dark is just too silly to swallow.  The book as a whole is corny, flavored too much like a saccharine 'instant classic.'

Delightful illustrations. Timeless. Slightly twee and predictable but enjoyable to read as an adult. Of course, it's not really aimed at grown-ups and this was adored by my 5yo boy, especially when we got to go EEEEK!
