A more medically oriented, less hands-on approach to sensory defensiveness, but more oriented towards unofficially diagnosing the level of the problem than are other books related. Encyclopedic References, and suggestions in dealing with medical professionals.

This book does what it is supposed to. I learned just enough from it to, I think, prevent one of our children from becoming a child with true sensory issues. Since we home schooled I was with our chlidren all the time and able to continually work on and evaluate such things.

My 19 month old son was recently diagnosed with a Sensory Processing Disorder and his OT recommended getting this book. It lists tons of important information to help parents and educators understand children with SPD. I recommend this book to any parent or educator!

This is a very helpful book. It can fill in the blanks when your child seems 'out of sync'. Although, the first book helps lead to a diagnosis, it is the second book that gives suggestions and tips to help you and your child. Both books are handy resources to have around.
