My daughter's house was built in the 1950s and the doors already had crude clearance holes right where the pilot bit needed to go. This jig enabled me to position the outside of the hole aligned with the latch hole on eight doors for repeated, clean, perfectly located holes.

I have used this item several times on both wood and metal doors. Simple to use and accurate. The only drawback is not able to mark the hole location for the bolt.

Cut two holes that needed to be enlarged from 1 1/2" to 2 1/8" to fit new deadbolt and made the job real easy. I can see where the bushings may need to be replaced as they do show a bit of wear.
