Not quite as funny as The Sex Lives of Cannibals, but still plenty worth it. Troost hasn't lost any of his ability to write; Vanuatu and Fiji just aren't as inherently funny (in an appalling sort of way) as Kiribati. I'm looking forward to Lost on Planet China, coming out this summer.

I enjoyed this memoir of an American living abroad in the South Pacific, although not as much as his first book, The Sex Lives of Cannibals which I loved. There are some laugh out loud moments, some great tales of culture shock, and some awesome descriptions of the wrath of nature. A fun escapist...

The continued adventures of south pacific island hopping, this time in Vanuatu and Fiji. Author searches for the meaning of cannibalism and learns the value of Kava, an intoxicating drink. I think a notch below Sex Lives of Cannibals, but still almost as enjoyable. A very quick read.

I enjoyed this book: full of information, great word pictures, some interesting anecdotes, and sprinkled with lots of very funny bits. It felt a bit slow at times for me, but it introduced me to a very unfamiliar world, and I'm glad I read it. Likeable, relate-able author.
