Bernie Rhodenbarr: The Burglar Who Thought He Was Bogart (Paperback)

Bernie Rhodenbarr makes a highly unlikely Bogey, but a highly entertaining thief. I find it simply amazing that he manages to extricate himself from such incredible jams but he's smart and calm under pressure. This is an entertaining book -- an easy mindless read with a highly likable character.

For some reason, the intrigue in this novel was less interesting and not what I associate with Bernie. His burgling skills are only tangentially involved. There is some fun stuff done with Humphrey Bogart but since I'm not really familiar with/interested in him, I'm sure I didn't fully appreciate...

This book is more about the characters, settings and old Humphrey Bogart movies than about the murders. Of course, we have the usual Bernie trapped in the closet after being hired to retrieve a portfolio from a secure building. Great summer read.
