Good size for my 1st grade daughter. She can put her pencils and markers, erasers and scissors and other stuff she uses at school. Doesn't fit a 12 inch ruler but it can fit the folding one. It's nice coz it's clear you can see what's inside. We got the pink one which is my daughters favorite color
