Pretty balanced account of an Amish family living next door to a non-Amish. Also tells the story of a young Amish man who left the order and is trying to make a life for himself among the English. Interesting book.

Fascinating. Detailed coverage of the lives of one Holmes County Ohio Amish family. Highly rec. if you are interested in the modern day practices and beliefs of the descendents of the Anabaptists.

This is a very interesting look (from the outside in) at the Amish way of life and how they live amidst our culture. The portrayal of the Amish is balanced. There is a healthy respect and even envy of their simple, practical, and full way of life, including a strong sense of community. The insula...
