Bought this combo at the beginning of the year 2016. Husband bought me this combo because he was tired of having heart attacks every time I used his bait cast and spin cast's causing lots of back lash. Perfect for the beginner anglers. It had nice casting and smooth reeling.

1 star for reel. Reel was great for my wife for approx 2 hours of fishing. Caught several LMB; none over 2.5lbs. Then suddenly malfunction. The spool would not release; the button is "stuck." Five star rod. Lightweight, responsive.

Just bought this combo set and from the start it had issues with reeling in the line. After taking the cover off I noticed the pin that pops out to catch the line was stuck inside. I have to use a knife or screwdriver to pry the pin out of the slit hole. Otherwise I cannot turn the handle to reel...
