I haven't opened the box yet. I intend to treat these to make them look old for use as a wall decoration in my beach house in Florida. It was actually much less expensive to buy these new paddles than it was to buy old/used paddles. So, I can't comment on how well they work for paddling a canoe.

The paddles are great. But I'm using them as a decorative project rather than for their intended purpose. The paddles were painted and are being used as fern stands.
