Definitely keeps squirrels away. Most birds aren't into it but there is a Downy Woodpecker that is on it from time to time.

I really loved getting these suet logs in-store, but when my local Walmart stopped carrying this particular hot/spicy one, I looked into ordering. Great product, but both arrived half crumbled. Think twice about having them shipped. Already returned them.
