These fans are very functional. They work either pointing in one direction, or oscillating. It is a little loud even on the lowest setting. The remote control is great to have. I've used it many times turning the fan off while in bed.

I highly recommend this fan. It has three power settings, the oscillation covers a wide area or it can be stationary. We have window air conditioners and we use this fan to move the cool air through the house. Best fan for the money by far!
