we bought this tent last year to down size. easy to put up and the dark rest makes the tent cooler and helps us sleep past sunrise. we only put a tarp under the rain fly because it was a really rainy weekend.

Its a good size for me, the spouse, our dog and gear. Plenty of room. As for the blackout claim its more of an illuminated gray and some light comes through. I guess it times of direct bright sun it will help but it does not completely black out the light.

This tent is so easy to set up! Just gotta lay it out, pop together the legs, and you're good to go. I'm so glad I bought this for all the camping fests and camping retreats I take my daughter on. It keeps out the light, stays dark until we're ready to get up.
