Good period piece. Somewhat film noir [40's version] but set late 50's/ early 60's. Good sense of period and setting, fair characterization, decent writing. End was a letdown.

The plot seems predictable, until the end. Then Block throws in a twist that hits you like a punch to the gut when you're not looking. His staccato sentences perfectly convey the noir atmosphere.
