If not overstuffed the lid snaps on. This is perfect size for me since it holds enough, but not so much that I can't carry it.

Had a couple tubs already, so I got the pack of 8 to fill up the shelves in my garage. All the lids snap on well and all the bins worked. Great to have all our stuff stored in these nice tubs.
