Purchased this external drive since the new towers don't have optic drives anymore. This one had very good reviews plus it has fast read and write speeds and is USB 3.0. Sure it might cost a bit more but it's worth it. You get what you pay for and so far this is a reliable and fast drive.

Ive backed up a lot of my personal data from blurays with this. It takes about 20-30 minutes to back up the standard bluray with a 90 minute home video, sometimes faster. You could say that you could really Rip through that data that you borrow/collect!
