We have used this to amend our heavily clay soil when planting fruit trees. We also mixed it with peat moss and garden soil for raised beds. Everything has grown extremely well. It is dark and broken down, no twigs or leaves in our bags like the other reviewer mentioned

Very dark mix of materials with some organic soil. Like most bagged top soil, Potting soil, and other mixes, 50-75% is ground up tree bark. Decay will take a Year or more. Just the same, the soil is reasonable in cost and when mixed with a high grade Potting soil it makes a good soil for gardens ...
