Lonesome (blu-ray)(2012)

Lonesome is a rare and audacious film from little-known but innovative director Paul Fejos, bridging the gap between silent and sound eras with color tinting, superimposition effects, experimental editing, and roving camera work.

This New York City symphony set in antic Coney Island during Fourth of July weekend is a treat for festival and cinematheque audiences, now available on home video after years of being rare.

In addition to Lonesome, this release includes two other Fejos films: The Last Performance (featuring a new score by Donald Sosin) and a reconstruction of the previously incomplete sound version of Broadway, in its time the most expensive film ever produced at Universal.
