there is not any restriction of movement and they are cozy. I'm 150 lbs. and the large size fits fine - I bought a size larger expecting some shrinkage with laundering and they did not (doesn't mean they won't at some time), which is a good thing for now because there isn't much room to shrink ....

I wear a uniform for work and am allowed to also wear a black polo shirt as opposed to the formal shirt. The thermal allows me to wear the polo longer into the cool season.
