Smooth and it slide across the mat with ease. I hope it doesn't crack or chip when I slam them together, while doing chest and shoulder workouts. They are big and bulky. They are about the size of a 55lbs hex dumbbell.

Bought this item a few times second one had been painted on one side and was a used item the company sent me a new one which is good customer service on the walmart side the service was really bad

Nice dumbbells. Seem to be decent quality. Not on par with dumbbells at big gyms, but nice enough for home use. One thing I noticed is the paint on the sides is "runny" but no big deal. They work great!
