This reel is an outstanding value for the performance you get out of it. I use the 30 on my halibut set up with 80lb test braid. Nice balance when winching up the barn doors off the bottom.

You cannot buy a better two speed reel for the money. And I would put my fathom 2 speeds up against reels that cost twice as much easily! I have 2 fathom 30ld 2 speeds.

Used Fathom 40's at Guadalupe Island with 80 lb line & they preformed amazingly. We caught YFT to 175 lbs with no problems.
