The lid is incorrectly designed and does not latch to the bin. Most of the other Sterlite lids fit awesome. I would buy this one in the store and confirm fitment of the lid is to your liking. I only chose these because 1 of these fit perfectly in a cube organizer on top of a Sterlite 16qt cont...

According to the dimensions this would be able to store papers 8 1/2 x 11. However this is the top of the container dimensions. It is tapered. so the bottom is not wide enough to lay a regular piece of paper in it.

I do not know why Sterilte does not offer these on their website or in other stores. They are hard to get. I run a business and use closet maid cube storage bookcases to store product in, I have found that these particular storage containers ONLY the 12 qt size will fit perfectly into the cube...
