I thoroughly enjoyed this book. While most of my history studies are on American and America's Civil War I found this book compelling as it explains the history of some of Great Britain's smaller isles. An interesting look of the British islands surrounding Britain (England, Scotland, Wales) covering their possible geologic origins, history (neolithic, Roman, medieval and modern), and economic and religious development. The maps are sparse but relevant but there are no photos.
