I have bought a couple of these because I like the pistol grip rods. Up until this model the tips have been too flexable. The lightning Rods have a faster tip making them much nice than the Ugly stick rods. I'll be buying more of them.

My casting is much better now which I credit to the pistol grip. The feel of the rod is perfect for me. Not too stiff yet not too loose. I have already caught several bass and the rod handled very well.

The pistol grip is the best handle on a pole for me. I just wish you would make the 5 1/2 foot pole again. I own several spinning lightning rods and have been very pleased with them. I bought this casting rod and I really like the reel seat. It should be a perfect rod for river fishing for smallmouth with crank baits and topwater plugs. Really reasonable pricing.
