The strongest stories were the ones with contemporary settings, especially "Copping Squid" by Michael Shea, "The Broadsword" by Laird Baron, "Rotterdam" by Nicholas Royle, "Lesser Demons" by Norman Partridge, and "Substitutions" by Michael Marshall Smith.
