I was not familiar with the wood from rubber trees, but it has a nice grain and is hard. I takes stain well. Overall I am well pleased with the chairs. I have not started to assemble them yet, but it doesn't look hard.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these chairs. They had no cracks or knot holes. They assembled easily and are very sturdy. They have a very smooth finish so no need for sanding...they are ready to stain/paint. I think these were a great value for the money!

The only difficulty was lining up the seat to attach it on the chair. Guides would have helped. I turned the chair over and drew lines on the underside and that helped.
