You get what you pay for. Not high quality. But what was I expecting for how much I paid for it. There is about 1-2in of space on each side between the bed frame and the boxspring/mattress. There is also some space between the headboard and foot board if you push the bed all the way to the headb...

this bed is awesome and such a great price! it's our son's first big boy bed and it's perfect! looks nice and isn't expensive.
