This is a basic backpack. I feel it is not for students as it doesn't expand enough to hold a lunch box. The straps are nicely padded and the "Hello Kitty" is so cute.

My daughter is 5 so this fits her lunch or a coloring book perfectly. The fabric of the backing seems like a thin polyester, so I wouldn't guarantee that it can handle heavy books for an older child. She loves it though, and that's really the most important part.

This is a backpack that looks bog but is not really that big, it has no pockets and on the inside it hast not sections so it's nice for outings where you don't need to bring a lot of stuff.
