I originally started reading "Maneater" by the same author, but the book was so atrocious I didn't finish it. I decided to give the author a second chance with this book and was pleasantly surprised. Formulaic to be sure, but well written and entertaining.

I loved the descriptions of life in California, the bizarre situations that are "normal" there, and how unglamorous it can get. The denouement was a bit too fairy-tale like for my tastes, but in its own way, shows how influential a Hollywood ending can be.

This book was very cute. I knew the mini series ws coming out and wanted toread the book first. They are nothing alike. As usual i liked the book better.
