Joe Kurtz is a little like Jack Reacher, but while smart is not as powerful, is more sloppy (easier for the bad guys to track him), and Simmonds relies on more plot tricks to get Kurtz out of impossible situations rather than realistic thinking and action. Not recommended.

Sigh, if only all genre writers could hold themselves up to the high standards Mr. Simmons does himself. If you can't get to the amusement park this book is a great substitute for a roller coaster ride. This story is chocked full of surprises and cleaver quips.
